My mentor Bill Walsh, America’s Small Business Expert, is a man of great wisdom and massive success.
The quote speaks to a truth every successful entrepreneur knows to be true, but every failed or struggling entrepreneur have not figured out.
You have to put yourself out there. You have to get out and go after it. But you have to be specific about where you go and who you spend time with.
If you own or are thinking of owning your own business, you need to learn specifically what it takes to build an even more successful company, connect with other like-minded business owners, and discover new ways to create revenue streams!

What companies come to mind when you think of successful companies? What do they all have in common?
I’m betting that one thing that comes to mind is that they provide good customer service and they don’t keep their customers waiting.
There are a lot of companies making money, but how many are really awe inspiring? How many really impress you?
If you consider that the Philippines is in the midst of an economic boom that has created a growing middle class and increased the quality of life for many Filipinos. But to sustain it, we needs a lot more entrepreneurs to keep innovating and pushing the country forward.
Standing in our way is a lot of big, slow to adapt, manual process intensive companies ripe to be disruptive! When is the last time one of the big banks, telcos or airlines really impressed you with its ability to deliver?
When it comes to solving the big problems our beloved country is challenged with, the innovation we need will come from small, lean start-ups just like the one you have been thinking about!

One of the biggest myths of getting started with A.I. is that it is too complex, to expensive and will take too long to set up.
But that is not the case.
We started GET A.I. READY in June 2019, to help businesses trying to compete with the Amazons, Apples and Googles of the world. We have delivered the training at a half-dozen business expos, for over two dozen American companies and have trained 300+ people across the United States.
From that experience, we have developed the following training program, taking the best of what is happening in the U.S. and modifying it for application by companies doing business in the Philippines.
LEARNING SECTIONS:
Section 1 — Good Data Governance requires us to collect, store, access, and analyze our data in an orderly way. Additionally, A.I. is not a standalone software. A.I. is designed to be used as part of a well-organized system; to accomplish a set of tasks using algorithms. This allows us to use A.I. in three different areas of our business processes. Data is the currency of an A.I. driven Organization.
A.I. Process #1 — Augmentation
A.I. Process #2 — Automation
A.I. Process #3 — Machine Learning
Section 2 — Business Intelligence — A simple conversation about the data collected in a business, how it is stored and accessed, what can be done with it will lead you towards A.I. Demonstrate the ability to ride the A.I. wave, rather than be rolled over by it, which all starts with augmenting your data analytics.
Section 3 — Process Automation — Sometimes the most powerful function of A.I. in a business is simply automation. We have to be able to either delegate, outsource or automate every part of our business that is manual, human resource heavy and/or repetitive. Automation saves time and money, but of course can come at a human cost.
Section 4 — Influencing Customer Behaviour — Machine Learning involves building mathematical models that A.I. will use for predictive data analytics and for learning. We then merry ML with Data Storytelling to craft narratives that drive a desired outcome from our customers.
Participants will have a deeper understanding of A.I. terminology, including Big Data Analytics, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, Predictive Modelling and Supervised Learning.
The end results of attending the one-day training will include the following:
An Assessment of your Current Analytics Maturity & a Plan to Level Up
A Map of your Data Lake, including Identified Data Silos
Learning about the Data Families/Skills Need for A.I.
A list of what manual processes you can Automate (Collection, Blending, Modelling, Analysis)
Tips on how enhance your Data Visualization & Data Storytelling skills
Identify the Key Customer Behaviour Influencers you need to maximize business profits
The bottom line, is that if your business is not already moving towards using A.I., you are at an increasingly perilous disadvantage. If you are not investing in this new technology, you can sure bet your competitors are.

Having some time off between speaking gigs, I have been reflecting a lot on how to level up what I do. I have been talking about analytics, data science and lately artificial intelligence all across the United States and the Philippines.
I’ve trained over 8,000 analysts, given over 200 talks and worked on over 50 big data projects the past several years. In that time I have learned a lot about how I deliver content and empower my audience.
I have heard at least 500 talk from other speakers and watched 100’s of video talks. So when I reflect on my speaking, I take all this in. I came up with these tips:
· Design each talk so that it mirrors what one would get from the 1st hour of coaching.
· As a speaker, you have about seven seconds to solidity first impressions, what do you do in your first 7 seconds?
· You need to be selective with your content. You can’t help everyone, so don’t try. Focus on giving content to those who are ready to make sense of it.
· I get paid for access to my brain. Think of coaching and training with an expert that way. How valuable is to have insight into the mind of an expert.
· What is your post interaction accountability? How are attendees held accountable to stick to their initial acknowledgement that this is an area where they need help?
· Meet with 2 people a day, follow up with each one personally. This is so much harder than it seems. Automate it, outsource it, do what it takes to keep it going.
· Develop a physical product you can giveaway that take people back to your story and ties them to an emotional experience. Something to do with being a self-taught data guy.
· Prior to the event, develop a purpose driven message. Create 2–3 talking points and a call to action (attend). Use both storytelling and story selling.
When I talk, it is always a process of evolution. Taking these steps to enhance my talks will allow me to deliver even more value, not just as a speaker, but a consultant, trainer and coach as well.

LinkedIn should be a very powerful tool for industry leaders, speakers and executives to build their brand, spread their influence and open up new business opportunities. However, to really get full value out of LinkedIn, few executives can dedicate much time to the tool.
Virtual Assistants are a very helpful way to bridge this gap. Having a trusted, managed, VA, log in using a Executive’s Log-In credentials to manage the daily use of LinkedIn as a business development, marketing and influencer tool can be a significant difference maker. Having a VA with the focus to build engagement with key connections and to open new speaking, training and coaching opportunities should be invaluable for the busy executive.
So I came up with a new product specifically for Entrepreneurs, Business Owners and Executives who need to get more value out of their LinkedIn Profile.
Our price point is $10 an hour, with the average VA working for 20 hours a week. Billed twice a month.
Many of our tops VAs provide the following LinkedIn services for busy executives:
Daily
· Send Message for every New Job, Work Anniversary & Birthday
· Post a Post/Photo/Link once a day (link to something from other related SM sources)
· Add Relevant New Connections (2nd Connections with the Connect option)
· Send Generic Greeting to Every new Connection
· Answer/Forward Messages
Weekly
· Post Articles once a week (repurposed from Medium)
· Add links, comments and/or posts to Groups (2 per week per group)
· Ad-Hoc E-mail Mining for Marketing Campaigns
· Track event promoters, conferences, trade fairs, etc. with potential speaking engagements.
Monthly
· Clean Up Old or “Dead” Connections
· Provide Month End Analytics Report to Executive
· Provide Marketing Team with all new E-mails for Newsletter
Any thoughts?

An excerpt from my new book, How I Got Started with A.I.
Before I left the U.S in early 2012., I spent a good six months doing research on the state of analytics in the Philippines. At that point, the concept of analytics was still quite elementary across just about every segment of business, of government and of higher education.
Taken as a whole, besides traditional MS excel heavy, management reporting there was a general lack of awareness what analytics was and how it could be used. There is a term that many Filipino businessmen use to explain how they make most of their business decision… gut feel.
Needless to say, to build a business around analytics training, I would have to expend a lot of time and energy on general awareness and making business cases before I would see a lot of profit coming my way.
So, I set out to do as talking about analytics as I could. Speaking at just about any kind of business event, giving guest lectures as school, I even had gave a talk to a group of high school educators in a hot gym with no AC and no PowerPoint.
Not only was I doing training, I started get invited to speak at different conferences. I became a featured speaker, and then eventually one of the most in-demand Technology speakers in Southeast Asia over the course of the next several years. I was doing this in thing, amazing thing was that the conference I was working with was incredibly broad.
The one thing that I found during this period of my career was it pretty much every industry is a potential client base. Any company that has data, that has people working with the data has a commitment to using the data to make decisions but the decision-makers don’t feel like they’re getting value.
And over the next 3 years things really started to accelerate, which is meant
At this point you might be starting to ask yourself what does this has to do with artificial intelligence. Well, here is my point I had to go to extremes to get senior leaders and influencers on board. When I started, the idea of how to use analytics daily in a business was not commonplace. Which parallels to where we are now, here in the U.S. when it comes to A.I.
In many cases I’ve come across with small businesses here, it actually takes more effort to prepare companies to get ready to use A.I. than it does to actually implement A.I. itself.
If you have a grand vision to get to the top of the mountain in your industry, you have to start the climb somewhere and it helps a lot to know how low down the mountain your base camp is.
